People share what they see themselves in
Audiences have gotten really good at spotting an ad. Real moments, real faces and real voices feel like they belong in the feed. Over-produced content gets scrolled past.
A decade in marketing, focused on social media strategy.
Hi, I'm Kelly. I have an MBA and over 10 years in marketing here in Oregon, running digital marketing departments for agencies and in-house teams: paid media, SEO, websites, all of it. Social media is the thing I kept falling back in love with.
Why I started Reel Good Social
Over my career I've hired a social media manager four times, all here in Oregon. Every time, I walked away with the same lesson: the person you're really looking for is a unicorn.
They need to understand brand, think strategically, create quickly, work scrappily and prove what's working with data. That person exists, but they're hard to find, especially in a market like Eugene.
I also spent time as a mentor in a digital marketing certification program, working with well over a hundred students. The analytical people gravitated toward SEO and paid media. The creative people gravitated toward content. Rarely did anyone sit comfortably in both. Social media needs both.
So I built Reel Good Social, my social media agency, to be exactly that: senior-level strategy and steady content, without the gamble of an in-house hire. I'm based in Eugene and work with brands across Oregon.
If you're in the middle of that search right now, I wrote about it: why hiring a social media manager in Oregon is harder than you think, and the four candidates you'll meet.
How I'm different
Before I focused on social, I spent years running paid media, SEO and websites. So I don't just ask whether a post got views. I ask what happened next.
Did it get views?
Most agencies stop hereDoes it tell people what you do?
Does it take them somewhere useful?
Can they find the next step?
Is someone catching the interest and following up?
They reach out.
What I believe
I work with brands that are ready to get real. Here's what that looks like in practice.
Audiences have gotten really good at spotting an ad. Real moments, real faces and real voices feel like they belong in the feed. Over-produced content gets scrolled past.
Follower counts don't equal reach, and viral reach to the wrong audience confuses the algorithm. I make content designed to find the right people, again and again.
Rigid content buckets and a calendar planned six weeks out make for predictable content. Every month I'm in the feed, watching what's working right now, and we adjust.
Nobody wants a logo on every post. Real people build trust, and trust is what turns viewers into customers.
Oregon-grown
My office is on Pearl Street in downtown Eugene, and I work with brands from Portland to Medford, Bend and the Coast.
You'll find me at my BNI chapter, McKenzie Momentum, on Thursdays, and teaching free workshops around town through The Social Hour. I love getting in a room with business owners and talking shop.
